[review] => If I ever need a rehab center, Bayshore Pointe is the place I want to be! A family member recently went there for rehab after a difficult hip replacement surgery. From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted with a friendly smile and offers to help. The reab staff was wonderful and caring. I also observed them in their recent efforts to evacuate all patients as hurricanes were approaching. The entire staff worked tirelessly to make sure everyone received their rehab care and safely transferred everyone to another facility. They all put in horribly long hours and performed back breaking work. Their patients were all treated with an incredible amount of care and patience. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the rehab staff at Bayshore Pointe!

We sent her to this facility because of the excellent care she received the last time she a patient at Bayshore Pointe. The nursing and therapy staff were so compassionate and caring as she recovered from her hip replacement during this second stay. She was able to rehab enough to safely return home with her family. Thank you to the entire team for your care!

[review] => Please, please don’t leave your love ones here. Is the worst place. My mom was there and she fell because no one was coming to help her to the bathroom. The beds are old and has corrosion. The ceiling has mold. Residence were yelling for help, Nursing and CNA didn’t care. They were ignoring them. They are not compassionate. The food is terrible. The residence gets charged to wash their clothes. They don’t even have plastic utensils if you need them. I submitted a complaint to her insurance and Agency for Health Administration and got a letter back from them stating they found rules and regulations were violated. Please, don’t send your loved one there. I wish I can advocate for the elderly that has no family members. You can contact me if you like to see the letter. I’m not lying. This place should be closed down. Need new administration. The place is old and smells.

[review] => This place was horrible!! Treated the patients rudely. All the caregivers were always on their phones doing very little. My mother was non verbal with Alzheimer with a broken hip. They would grab her by her arms and legs and swing her from the bed into wheelchair! Never gave her a pain pill (they said she had to request it). Also never fed her She couldn’t feed herself. Was told she had to walk before she could leave. She lost the ability to walk before her fall🤷‍♂️

The commitment to his care by dedicated staff was so appreciated as he thrived daily at Bayshore Pointe. The facility offers a beautiful garden area and provides daily activities that were creative and enjoyable. Themed and holiday celebrations were fun and well attended.
I am truly grateful to his doctors, nurses, cnas, speech and physical therapists, administrators and front desk personnel for their care , guidance and friendship during his stay. I truly recommend Bayshore Pointe for families looking to place their love ones for short or long term stays.

[review] => From 0 stars to 5 stars…READ UPDATE IN BOTTOM!
It used to be a wonderful place my mother with dementia called home for almost 3 years. Unfortunately, the administration recently changed and I was given an ultimatum to place my mother elsewhere, “to protect others”.
Her sendoff was a shameful illustration of an administration that lacks compassion for the elderly and fragile. It was truly “a memorable moment”, as the website promises. Too many details to mention here. I’ve had to place my mother in an ALF where she is completely disoriented. It is very sad, because the healthcare workers At Bayshore pt had been nothing but stellar, so for one individual, Ellie Schitt, NHA to undo 3 years of a wonderful life single-handedly is just a shame. I have reported this experience in detail to AHCA, Ombudsman, Department of children and Families and Bayshore pointe administration, in the hopes this new administration changes or gets retrained in Compassionate care.

UPDATE:

A NEW ADMINISTRATION makes all the difference!!! After the debacle 11 months ago a new administration was put in place; I then received a phone call from the Bayshore pointe headquarters to ensure me this situation would not happen again, and mom could go back to her home where she would be cared for with compassion. Because my mother had made Bayshore pointe her home for almost 3 years, and because I knew the staff, I decided to bring her back to Bayshore after speaking with the new administration. Mom has been back since March and Wow! What a difference new leadership makes.
I am very happy she is back “home”. The new administrator has made a positive impact in my mother’s life as well as the rest of the residents. The staff seem happier, the rooms are cleaner, the resident activities are awesome. Laundry dept is on point, and mom loves her food. Within the bounds of her dementia, her quality of life is good. That’s all I can ask for.
I love the nurses and CNA’s that care for my mother. Sure, there is always room for improvement especially with weekend staff, but as long as there is no neglect and the administration is following up in their promise, I know my mom will be protected and cared for with dignity. I am optimistic that the Bayshore Pointe leadership will continue their commitment of compassionate care for the sake of the residents, and family members.

[review] => Brought my mother to the facility for 5 days of respite, she had a stroke and we care for her at home. She needs help with eating, toileting, etc. When we went to visit on the second day, we pulled her out of the facility. At noon we found her in her Wheelchair facing the wall with breakfast on the dresser and her cpap still on. We were assured that speech therapy was available 7 days a week to supervise her eating but actually speech doesn't work on weekends. They provided a diet she couldn't chew instead of soft as ordered. There was no water within reach. They didn't give her all of her medications. Some of her medications were not received. We were told a commode with rails would be over the toilet, which was never done. It has been 2 weeks and we have not received a call concerning why she left early.
I can't believe that they care for people in this manner. I was shocked and appalled. Don't use this facility.

My mother cried out at night for 3 days telling the nurses she could not breathe and the nurses and the doctor said it was because she was anxious. After begging the attending nurse to call the doctor and when he finally made an appearance the next day, my mother's hemoglobin levels had decreased to 7 and she had to be admitted to the hospital . If we hadn't begged she may have died in that facility. Don't send your loved one at Bayshore Point.

[review] => Several years ago, the folks at Bayshore Point Rehab literally saved my aunt's life! Recently my sister-in-law was in dire need of rehab after an ER/Hospital stay and luckily we were able to get her into Bayshore Pointe! Her mental and physical state were beyond challenging and we were desperate for help. The staff at Bayshore Pointe showed incredible compassion, respect, teamwork, patience and commitment to her care as well as to their communication with her family. Even the Director of therapy was actively involved in her progress! I cannot say enough about Bayshore Pointe and their staff! Every one who worked with her was so kind and did such a great job with her. The facility is clean and comfortable and from the minute we were warmly greeted by the receptionist though the day we got to take her home we were treated like family by everyone there. My sincere appreciation goes out to her doctors, nurses, therapists, food staff, cleaning staff...and everyone who had a hand in caring for her. After a week under their care she looks better than she has in years, is eating great and is moving so much better! If I ever find myself in need of a rehab center...it WILL be Bayshore Point!

[review] => This rehabilitation center was the best one we experienced in the Bay Area. My grandfather was transferred to five different rehabilitation centers throughout Tampa in and St. Petersburg.

The wound care nurse Michelle was excellent. She had all of his bedsores and wounds healing up very quickly.
Which is an area that the other facilities struggled with. Michelle was very caring, compassionate, and loving. Our family highly appreciate’s Michelle and The Bayshore rehabilitation staff. Thank you.

[review] => My mom is staying at Bayshore Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center. The staff is very caring, and the facility is very clean. I'm pleased with the security, which some people don't like, but they have glass doors. When you walk in and stand in front of the glass doors, the receptionist has to let you in and out. I think that's great. To get on the elevator, you need a code.

They make sure my mom is not in her room all the time. She goes to the dining room to eat, which at first, she was not happy with, but now I think she's making friends. The rehab and physical therapy are good. They have a day room where they have a TV. They take very good care of her. She is clean. I had no problems with cleanliness at all. Mom likes the food. Their staff is very caring and very professional.

It's an older facility, but it's very clean. It has three levels. It's not brand new. She's still covered under Medicare; she hasn't used up her 100 days. Last year, she was at a different location that was so loud, and the staff would yell and kid around. This place is quiet.

They said they weren't expecting any new patient's... They had to ask me questions as to why he was there They put him in a room that wasn't ready for any patient. Not much worked...tv was broken, light was broken... About an hour later they brought a lady patient in the same room to share with him. ... As I left, it didn't seem like a safe, caring place... the story got much worse after...

[review] => Be very careful choosing this facility. They advertise they have physicians on staff. The may be on the payroll however they have yet to make a visit to patients with problems. If you're lucky one of the very few RN's will call the Doctor and explain the symptoms. thats the basis for treating the patient. No follow up or face to face visits. if you want to speak to your loved one in the evening good luck. The phone rings and rings until it disconnects 80% of the time in the evening. The 3rd flr staff disappear after 8pm. Phones ring off the hook and patients often can't locate anyone for assistance

My sister has been there since Thursday evening, now Saturday afternoon. No meds have been given to her, her call button is never answered, no help or supplies for personal hygiene (no toothbrush or paste). Director is unable and no voice mail set up to leave information. Head nurse, Jane, doesn’t show up on time for work and unable to talk with her. This is good service???? NOT!!!! As far as I’m concerned their license should be canceled.

[review] => My dad is currently in Bayshore Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center. It's hard because of COVID, so they have a lot of restrictions. I'm not as impressed with this place as the other community I liked. I haven't been able to get anybody to call me back. The only thing positive I'd say about them is that the physical therapy department is amazing. The physical therapist talked to me, stopped when he saw me as I was there visiting my dad, he was amazing. But for everything else, I'd get conflicting stories from one nurse to the next, and I still to this day haven't talked to the social worker about discharge. Since has been there I haven't been able to get the social worker to call me back. I had an appointment with her and she didn't call me back and her messages were full, and I've left message after message after message. He said the food is not great, he said it doesn't have any flavor. He said that the nurses are nice but they're too busy, so I'm guessing they're understaffed. As far as physical therapy, the rehab people are really good. They bring him down, they help him play games to strengthen him, and have fun. They don't really offer a lot of activities for the people there on rehab, except that the rehab people make it so he gets up and does stuff.

(Ask them how many staff and patients have tested positive in the past 30 days.) Whatever your vaccination beliefs are, sending a senior into this environment - even if they're vaccinated - is insane.

[review] => If I could give this place a 0 I would. My mom stayed there for 20 days after being transferred from the hospital and she was treated horribly. She was there for a back injury and she has Parkinsons. She requires alot of assistance to do just some basic things. When I first got there I was told she was in isolation due to covid so I couldn't visit her which would have been fine except she wasn't told and they didn't tell me that it was because of covid for about an hour after I came. The staff that attended to her(I use the term "attended" very loosely) would at some points ignore her for hours at a time. One time she was stuck on the toilet for 45 minutes straight because they wouldn't do their job right. They would also yell at her at times too. I wish I knew the all staff members names so I could expose them on here. They should all be fired and blackballed from the healthcare business.

I had to call the director Lee to get anything done. Lee was great. He took care of everything. Chad the physical therapist was wonderful. Corrine the social worker was wonderful. Travon was also very good. Katelyn the receptionist was great. Now the overall Place I would not send my worst enemy to. The nurses are supposed to take care of the patients. They do not. Unless you call Lee so many times be cause you don’t want your loved one to suffer. Please don’t ever go there or send anyone you care about there. It was a total nightmare.

[review] => Terrible facility and long-term care smells like urine! When my mother recently needed a rehab facility and the hospital sent out request, my mother was denied because of a previous state due to her behavior. My mother is a senior citizen who had a UTI and a frontal lobe stroke and being disoriented of course confused her. She was not trying on purpose to be difficult but apparently that's how she was labeled. I guess this facility only wants the easy money instead of doing their job. Honestly I wasn't going to let her go back there anyway because last time she was there she fell 3 times and detached her retina. She was also given the wrong medication and was put on opioids which she became addicted to. This may be a preferred provider for a lot of hospitals but I would never let anyone I love stay there!

The floor she’s in must be for patients with Alzheimer’s because they scream and get lost walking around. The room is filthy. The wheel chair she was provided is broken and when sitting in it she gets hurt. The solution was to place a pillow on it so she can sit. Really? Good luck calling and trying to talk to anyone in charge because you will spend the whole day leaving voice mails. One of the CNAs pulled her and moved her on her left side which is the leg that she had surgery on. Now her pain is back to 10 due to the wrong movement right after surgery. Needles to say I’m getting her out tomorrow. Rehabs should have inspections because I can guarantee you this one will be closed. Filthy, broken wheel chairs and terrible attention.

[review] => Never will I EVER recommend this place for a loved one. So many issues came about, starting from them forgetting to give my grandmother her blood pressure medication for a couple of days ( which could have caused serious issues, possibly killed her! ) Then they even forgot to feed her a couple of times! She was on a strict soft and liquid diet because of digestive issues and they messed up several times, to the point where when she would call the kitchen to tell them she couldn't eat the food they brought and then they would bring her cold broth! If your Ioved one needs assistance to go to the bathroom, well forget it, expect them to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours for them to help. Then there are issues with the staff, one nurse in particular was not paying attention and practically pulled out my grandmother's IV which then caused leaking and improper distributing of the liquids, then she wouldn't even bring my grandmother a glass of water for the 2 days she was assigned to her! I had to call and request a different nurse! Only a few days after that, she was transferred to Hospice ( THANK GOD because at least there I knew she would get the treatment she needed and deserved even though it was going to be her last days here on earth ) so final and VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW complaint, her wedding ring and band is missing!!!! She had them on each time when I went to visit her in the facility, but then when she passed away at hospice and I had to go pick up her belongings and say my final goodbye, NO RINGS! I asked them and they said she did not come in with any rings. So I called Bayshore Pointe and they said they haven't found any rings, so I have tried to call several times to this day to speak to whoever is in charge of the facility because I want to file a complaint and a missing rings report. I have left multuple messages for them to call me back and they WILL NOT! I am so disappointed and upset that words can't even discribe!!! I don't even know what else to do at this point. I am telling you this because this place needs to be exposed for how they treat people ( don't be fooled by how the place looks, because thats the only decent thing they have going for them! ) and my grandmother was lucid, so I can't imagine the treatment the other patients who are helpless and don't know whats going on half the time are getting! Spare your loved one and your money and DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! I would give them 0 stars but thats not an option.

[review] => HORIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE, If you love your parents do not leave the in this place. From the CNA to the highest are negligent. Have found my mother sitting in her own urine, she is a risk fall resident. However she cant comunicate and ask for help when she needs to since I have found her call button on the floor or tucked behind her bed board. They removed the phone from her room and in order to talk we have toggle between 1 2 3 floors taking good 45 minutes to make contact. When possible and she could use zoom app to see how she is doing and whoever is in the room flips the camera and we can only hear her.

This place is a scam and abusive to elders the director sucks, the nurse staff and CNA's suck and arent in the elder busines our of compassion and a calling. They are Strictly mercurists only in it for the money.
Sad, very sad.
We are making arrangements to remove our mother as far away as possible from that place.

And this matter is not only going to stay like that. The whole book of ELDER LAW will be thrown at this group of crooks owning a number of these facilities all over Tampa Bay oh yes, they will be exposed.

In conclusion, no, this is not a place you should consider.

[review] => I always came back to find my mother in neglected conditions. Filthy and unkept. Extremely Understaffed and Unsupervised employees. I’ve had to search out supplies to do things myself.

I had to make calls to get mother the right medication. They kept screwing it up. Nurses gave me the “I didn’t know” excuse: no communication between staff. Mom kept getting infections!

During her stay, she fell trying to get to bathroom because they consistently never answered call button. They never called me! That is downright illegal. —- If that happens to your loved one, call an ambulance as soon as you find out! Or they will get away with it and how else are you going to be certain your loved one did get hurt. —-

At the time of release, which I tried so hard to plan and manage. She was almost released to the wrong place!!! When the new place called me at the last minute asking for my enrollment signature, we had figured out the mistake!! How could this have happened?? I was clear and reiterated several times. I kept asking when are they going to contact her Nursing Home! They also forgot to arrange transport! They removed her from her bed and left her in the lobby for hours!!!

[review] => DO NOT allow your loved one to be placed in this facility!!! My mother was transferred here after hip surgery and it was a nightmare. I tried working with them to correct problems and it was useless. From CNA's all the way to top management, no one worked as a team. In the two months we were there, I never once saw or spoke to facility doctor. My mom was neglected, over medicated, under medicated, contracted two infections that could have been prevented. I was the one who had to change, bathe her and disinfect her bed and room!!! I saw other patients being neglected and treated with impatience. I was afraid of not being there at all times.

Laundry is never returned even though items are marked. She has about one third of her clothes. She gets no help with eating. If you don't visit daily, the patients are IGNORED. Urine smell is horrible. The director just talks a good game but does NOTHING. DON'T PUT YOUR LOVED ONE THERE!!!

[review] => This place has very caring working people. In my opinion this place is what you make of it. I have seen people complain about this place but it is one of your nicer rehabilitation and nursing centers in the Tampa area. The physical and occupational therapist that work there do it because they genuinely want to help patients. The activities department and staff persons are very giving of themselves. I have had family members in this facility and I have been a patient here as well. I never saw a staff member being rude to a patient. Yes as in all facilities there are a few that should not he in health care but these usually do not last. Yes, there are times in health care that units are short staffed. This place is not immune to this shortage. The workers will stay and work over time and they did not mind and did not slack off. I must say that the administration of this place has done and continue to do an excellent job.

The staff at Bayshore Pointe did not even have the coutesy to call me her daughter and health care surrogate! Instead tte ER Dr. surprised me with a phone call. I feel this facility really dropped the ball! I then called left a message for the director of nursing and have never received a response. Very upsetting! My Mother axtually developed pneumonia from there and died 10 days later! Very dirty and understaffed! Beware!!

I have seen wild eyed Alzheimer patients respectfully calmed and felt listen to.
My mom was a patient for 3 months and we could recommend that you can feel safe there. The PT people are so committed to the patients. My mom was immobile and now can handle a walker and walk some steps after a broken leg and pacemaker at 90. We are grateful to Bayshore Pointe.
I never write reviews but I just had to for this place and it's supportive environment.

I was amazed that after three months of my Mom's rehab care (she broke her leg and got a pacemaker at 90 yrs old)she got good bye notes from some of the staff. Thank you all at Bayshore Pointe with your big Pink building for keeping my mom safe and cared for when she needed you most.

[review] => The first thing I noticed with this facility was there was ample parking, beautiful grounds and a large patio and walkway with sitting area outside for the residents and visitors.
When I went inside I noticed the downstairs had beautiful furnishings, a large activity room, large exercise room and roomy hallways.
When I went upstairs to residents rooms, I noticed they had a variety of residents semi private and private rooms; although not very spacious. The common areas were fairly small and no privacy for visiting. I did notice that the dinning room was very large and enough room for the resident and visitor if they wished to enjoy a meal with the resident. I was able to view their lunch and it did look quite good and very nutritious.
The staff was very friendly and quite a few staff members on duty at the time of my visit.
I did however notice that there were quite a few call lights blinking unanswered for quite a while.
I went back down to the activities center and noticed the facility offers activities every day with a variety of things to do, there is a library and the facility offers transportation for doctor's appointments, etc.

If I ever need a rehab center, Bayshore Pointe is the place I want to be!
